The short answer
Higgsfield Soul ID trains one reusable character from 20 to 80 photos, then applies that identity across the Soul image models and Seedance Elements. Choose Starter for a small character test, Plus for recurring content and Ultra when measured image or video volume regularly exhausts 1,200 credits.
Key takeaways
- Train Soul ID with 20 or more clean, varied photos of one person; up to 80 are supported.
- Training takes a few minutes and produces an identity available across the Soul family.
- Trained characters also appear as Elements for Seedance video generation.
- Soul ID maintains recognisable identity, not a pixel-identical face in every angle or style.
Section 01
What is Higgsfield Soul ID?
Soul ID is Higgsfield's character-consistency layer: it learns one person's identity from a photo set and reuses that identity across generated scenes, styles and poses.
The official Soul 2.0 workflow combines Soul ID with prompts, presets or personal Moodboards and Soul HEX color palettes. Soul ID controls who appears; the other inputs control the art direction, location and look.
The reused identity remains inside the Higgsfield ecosystem. It is available to Soul models and connected tools, but it is not exported as a standalone face model or file.
Section 02
How many photos and how long does Soul ID training take?
Upload at least 20 photos of one person and up to 80. Higgsfield says training takes a few minutes after upload.
A smaller set of clean, consistent photos generally produces a stronger identity than a larger set with unrelated styling or poor visibility. The official guidance recommends recent photos from roughly the last four to five months when appearance is stable.
- Use recent, well-lit photos with the face clearly visible.
- Include different angles, expressions and at least one full-height image.
- Avoid group shots, sunglasses, heavy shadows and cropped faces.
- Use only your own photos or images of someone who has explicitly permitted the identity model.
Section 03
Does Soul ID work across Soul models and Seedance?
Yes. A trained Soul ID works across the Soul family and can appear automatically in Seedance as a reusable Element.
Soul, Soul 2.0 and Soul Cinema expose different levels of presets, Moodboards, Soul HEX and cinematic control. The trained character remains the same identity layer while the selected model controls output style and settings.
For Seedance, the character is selected through @ Elements or converted from an existing image when necessary. This makes Soul ID relevant to video creators as well as portrait and image-generation workflows.
Section 04
What does Soul ID cost, and how do plan credits apply?
Budget for the recurring generation volume, not a one-time character purchase. Each image or video still uses the selected model's current credit rate, and Higgsfield shows the total on the Generate button before confirmation.
| Plan | Monthly credits | Practical starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 270 | Train and validate one identity with a small proof set |
| Plus | 1,200 | Recurring social content, lookbooks or UGC with retries |
| Ultra | 3,000 | High-volume characters, multiple concepts or video Elements |
Section 05
What are the limits of Soul ID?
Soul ID is designed for recognisable consistency, not perfect facial cloning. It holds one person, can drift under extreme style or angle changes, and cannot be exported as a standalone model.
Scenes with two or more consistent people require separate Elements rather than one Soul ID. Very unusual camera angles, heavy stylisation or a weak source-photo set can also reduce likeness.
The identity must be used responsibly. Training a real person without permission can create legal, privacy and platform-policy risk even when the tool technically accepts the upload.
Section 06
How should you prepare a Soul ID photo set?
Use a single subject, varied but clear views, recent images and enough full-body context to help the model separate identity from wardrobe or background.
| What helps | What hurts |
|---|---|
| Different angles and expressions | The same pose repeated across the set |
| Clear light and an unobstructed face | Heavy shadows, hats or sunglasses |
| Recent photos | Old photos after a major appearance change |
| One person per image | Group shots and ambiguous subjects |
| At least one full-height photo | Head-only images with no body context |
Section 07
Which Higgsfield plan should Soul ID creators choose?
Start with the smallest plan that can produce one complete, realistic character campaign. Upgrade after the character is approved and repeatable output proves the monthly requirement.
A creator testing a single virtual influencer may only need a small proof set. A fashion, UGC or personal-brand workflow with several concepts, batch outputs and video Elements should estimate retries and final renders before choosing Plus or Ultra.
Unlimited or free Soul generations may appear on qualifying plans, but they apply on the Higgsfield website only. MCP, CLI, Canvas and Supercomputer usage always consumes credits.

Frequently asked questions
How many photos does Higgsfield Soul ID need?
Current official help says to use 20 or more photos of one person and supports up to 80. Variation in angles and lighting matters more than adding inconsistent images.
Is Soul ID the same as a reference image?
No. A reference image guides one generation and can drift across separate runs. Soul ID trains a reusable identity that persists across styles, poses and supported models.
Can I use Soul ID in Seedance video?
Yes. Trained Soul characters appear automatically as Elements and can be selected for compatible Seedance video workflows.
Does Soul ID create a perfectly identical face?
No. Higgsfield describes the result as clearly the same person rather than pixel-identical. Extreme styles, unusual angles and weak training images can introduce small drift.
Can I train someone else with Soul ID?
Only with that person's permission. Uploading another person's likeness without consent can create privacy, legal and platform-policy problems.
